| The Australian Trade College North Brisbane offers industry standard of vocational education with qualifications that are recognised worldwide.
Australia is a popular venue for students from many countries. It is believed to be the third largest number of international students in the English speaking world and has a safe and welcoming environment for visitors from all around the world.
In January 2007, the Australian Trade College North Brisbane opened its doors to domestic students (from 16 years of age) who wished to undertake an Australian School-based Apprenticeship in the skills shortage trade areas of Automotive, Building and Construction, Commercial Cookery, Electrotechnology and Metal and Engineering. In 2009 this was extended to full time apprentices who chose to have their offsite trade training delivered by the College’s industry-current trade trainers.
In 2009, the College was awarded “Construction School of the Year” (Queensland) and five College students have been named as Queensland representatives in the 2010 World Skills Australia Competition.
Australian students are currently benefitting from this great concept in vocational education since the College’s establishment and the next step has been taken with the College opening its doors for the delivery of its courses to international students. Students wishing to study abroad have a wide variety of choices at the College with options being available in two sectors:
In the VET sector, post-secondary students can complete a Diploma or Certificate III in Business or IT, or can study a technical trade at a Certificate III level in the industry areas of Automotive, Hospitality, Building and Construction and Metal and Engineering.
International Students have similar opportunities to their domestic counterparts - to achieve a senior secondary qualification (Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) as well as a pathway to the completion of a vocational education qualification (including Certificate III courses in Automotive, Hospitality – Commercial Cookery and Cabinet Making) or to articulate to higher education.
